Medicines monitoring

Give monitoring work a clear next step.

AegisRX helps GP teams organise due and overdue medicines monitoring from their EMIS records. Pharmacist-supported searches turn the agreed scope into worklists your team can review, allocate and follow up.

Make the outstanding work usable

A monitoring count is a starting point. Someone still needs to check the record, confirm what is required, arrange the right contact and review the result. AegisRX connects the agreed search findings with a list of work for your practice to act on.

Our pharmacists run read-only EMIS Web searches weekly or monthly. The service can place monitoring work alongside other recall requirements, helping your team consider whether an appropriate test or observation can fit into an already planned contact.

The search scope and review arrangements need to be agreed for your practice. This page is not a claim that every medicine, monitoring requirement or safety alert is covered.

A practical monitoring cycle

  1. Check the finding. Review the source record and search date. Confirm that the medicine, test history and responsibility for monitoring are current.
  2. Confirm the clinical action. An appropriate clinician determines urgency, the required tests or review, and any escalation using current guidance and the patient's circumstances.
  3. Allocate and arrange. Assign invitations, tests and follow-up to the right team members. Combine work only when timing, competence and the patient's needs allow it.
  4. Review results and record the outcome. A test being booked or taken does not establish that its result has been reviewed. Keep the appropriate clinical follow-up within your existing process.
  5. Reconcile the next list. Use the next extract to review recorded progress and check remaining items before taking further action.

Search support does not replace clinical review

AegisRX lists and reports from the records available to it. It does not diagnose, prescribe or decide that monitoring can safely wait. Staff remain responsible for contacting patients, reviewing results and recording care; the current service does not automatically message patients or write back to EMIS.

Use current professional guidance, local arrangements and clinical judgement for the individual patient. The NHS Specialist Pharmacy Service monitoring resources provide professional reference material; they do not certify AegisRX coverage or replace an agreed local process.

Scheduled searches are not a real-time alerting service. Urgent concerns and new safety information need your usual clinical response without waiting for the next report.

What to check in a demonstration

  • Which searches and medicines are included in your proposed service scope.
  • How the team distinguishes a task needing contact from one needing a clinical decision.
  • How you will review source dates, incomplete records and work already done elsewhere.
  • Who owns invitations, result review, escalation and the check after the next extract.

The first step

Request your practice snapshot.

We’ll discuss your practice’s needs and agree the scope before work begins.

AegisRX is a recall and reporting tool. It counts and lists from your own records; every clinical decision is made by a clinician. The snapshot is not a statement of CQC compliance. Benefits depend on each practice and are not guaranteed. Prices exclude VAT.
