Accessibility statement for Medicines Health Check and AegisRX
Prepared 7 September 2026. Last reviewed 7 September 2026. Next review due March 2027.
What this statement covers
This statement applies to two services run by Virtual Pharmacist Ltd:
- Medicines Health Check — the patient website, including the medicines check form, the checkout and the patient account area (the patient portal).
- AegisRX — the clinical review platform used by pharmacists, GPs and practice staff who sign in to review medicines and correspondence.
We want as many people as possible to be able to use these services. That means you should be able to:
- change colours, contrast levels and fonts using browser or device settings
- zoom in up to 400% without the text spilling off the screen
- navigate most of the website using a keyboard or speech recognition software
- listen to most of the website using a screen reader (including recent versions of NVDA, JAWS and VoiceOver)
- turn off animation through the reduced-motion setting on your device
We have also made the text as simple as possible to understand. AbilityNet has advice on making your device easier to use if you have a disability.
How accessible these services are
We know some parts of these services are not fully accessible. Our own testing in September 2026 found that:
- Patient portal — register: Date of birth is a native browser date picker with no hint on the expected format, and the browser may show it in a non-UK order.
- Clinical platform — review and document queues: Each queue card is announced as one large button that contains further buttons, so screen-reader users hear the whole card as the control name and keyboard users get unrelated focus stops.
- Clinical platform — cohort builder and report filters: Several filter drop-downs have no accessible name, so a screen reader announces them only as “combobox”.
- Clinical platform — new medication review form: The medication list box takes its name from its placeholder text rather than a visible label, and the Sex drop-down is announced as “Select”.
- Clinical platform — several pages: Some pages have no level-one heading, skip heading levels, or mark summary numbers up as headings.
- Clinical platform — document queue and review pages: Some small coloured status labels and text buttons fall below the 4.5:1 contrast ratio.
- Letters and exports: PDF letters and record exports generated by the service have not been checked against PDF/UA and may not be fully tagged.

Reporting accessibility problems
We are always looking to improve the accessibility of these services. We log every report and will tell you what we are doing about it.
Enforcement procedure
The Equality and Human Rights Commission (EHRC) is responsible for enforcing the Public Sector Bodies (Websites and Mobile Applications) (No. 2) Accessibility Regulations 2018 (the ‘accessibility regulations’). Technical information about accessibility
Virtual Pharmacist Ltd is committed to making its websites accessible, in accordance with the Public Sector Bodies (Websites and Mobile Applications) (No. 2) Accessibility Regulations 2018.
Compliance status
These services have not yet been independently audited against the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) version 2.2 AA standard. Our own testing against WCAG 2.2 AA found the non-compliances listed below, so until an audit is complete we do not claim compliance. We treat the services as partially compliant and are fixing the issues listed here.
Non-accessible content
The content listed below is non-accessible for the following reasons.
Non-compliance with the accessibility regulations
- Date of birth is a native browser date picker with no hint on the expected format, and the browser may show it in a non-UK order. This fails WCAG 2.2 success criterion WCAG 3.3.2 (labels or instructions). Where: patient portal — register. We plan to fix this by December 2026.
- Each queue card is announced as one large button that contains further buttons, so screen-reader users hear the whole card as the control name and keyboard users get unrelated focus stops. This fails WCAG 2.2 success criterion WCAG 4.1.2 (name, role, value). Where: clinical platform — review and document queues. We plan to fix this by December 2026.
- Several filter drop-downs have no accessible name, so a screen reader announces them only as “combobox”. This fails WCAG 2.2 success criterion WCAG 1.3.1, 4.1.2. Where: clinical platform — cohort builder and report filters. We plan to fix this by December 2026.
- The medication list box takes its name from its placeholder text rather than a visible label, and the Sex drop-down is announced as “Select”. This fails WCAG 2.2 success criterion WCAG 1.3.1, 3.3.2. Where: clinical platform — new medication review form. We plan to fix this by December 2026.
- Some pages have no level-one heading, skip heading levels, or mark summary numbers up as headings. This fails WCAG 2.2 success criterion WCAG 1.3.1, 2.4.6. Where: clinical platform — several pages. We plan to fix this by December 2026.
- Some small coloured status labels and text buttons fall below the 4.5:1 contrast ratio. This fails WCAG 2.2 success criterion WCAG 1.4.3 (contrast, minimum). Where: clinical platform — document queue and review pages. We plan to fix this by December 2026.
- PDF letters and record exports generated by the service have not been checked against PDF/UA and may not be fully tagged. This fails WCAG 2.2 success criterion WCAG 1.3.1, 4.1.2. Where: letters and exports. We plan to fix this by December 2026.
Letters sent to patients and GPs are also available on request as plain text or in a larger font — email hello@virtualpharmacist.co.uk.
What we are doing to improve accessibility
We test each release against WCAG 2.2 AA with automated checks and manual keyboard and screen-reader testing, and we review this statement every six months. We are arranging an independent audit of both services; this statement will be updated with its findings.
Preparation of this accessibility statement
This statement was prepared on 7 September 2026. It was last reviewed on 7 September 2026.
These services were last tested on 5 September 2026. The test was carried out by Virtual Pharmacist Ltd. We tested every page of the patient website and the clinical platform at desktop and mobile screen sizes, using automated checks (axe-core), keyboard-only navigation, and screen-reader review of the accessibility tree for each page.
